Maryland lands another top 2012 prospect

Christiano Francois, considered by many the top remaining prospect in the Class of 2012, verbally committed to the University of Maryland on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Francois, a native of Haiti, scored 43 goals to lead St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.) to a 24-0 season and the POWERADE FAB 50 No. 1 ranking for the fall. Francois’ commitment now takes care of St. Benedict’s top two senior prospects as Chris Hernandez has decided to turn pro this year.
